Man Arrested After Hill District SWAT Incident

HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) – A man was arrested following a SWAT incident in the Hill District early Wednesday morning.

According to police and the suspect's father, the incident resulted from a combination of an argument, alcohol and a loaded gun.

"I was in the bed and I just heard a gunshot and I got up," Jerome Williams Sr. said.

Williams was asleep in his Brackenridge Street home, when his son, 28-year-old Jerome Williams Jr., and his girlfriend came home arguing while intoxicated.

During the course of the argument, Williams Jr. fired one shot through the floor, which nearly hit his sleeping father.

"It went through the floor and went down to the mattress," Williams Sr. said. "It was close."

Williams Jr. was taken into custody without a fight.

When officers got inside the home, they found two loaded handguns and a small amount of marijuana.

The elder Williams said he debated turning his son in for four hours before calling police.

Williams Jr. will face drug charges. He could also face firearms and recklessly endangering another person charges.

His girlfriend was not arrested.
