‘American Idol’ Back In Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — “American Idol” has returned to Pittsburgh and this time the hit television show has brought some star power with it.
In July, thousands of people flocked to Heinz Field for the chance to try out for the show.
After two rounds of auditions this summer, the final round of preliminary judging for the Pittsburgh tryouts is being held today at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Host Ryan Seacrest as well as judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are in town to hand out those coveted golden tickets to Hollywood.
Pittsburgh has won a lot of national titles, but not an “American Idol” crown yet.
“This is the City of Champions – the perfect spot to find our next superstar,” Ryan Seacrest said. “Let’s get the auditions started in Pittsburgh.”
“Today we were commenting how everybody was fighting us,” Jennifer Lopez said. “We had a lot of fighters who wouldn’t go down, so maybe it has something to do with the fact that this is the City of Champions – they’re not going down without a fight.”
The line of hopefuls started forming outside of the Convention Center around 6:30 a.m. The facility was closed off to the general public.
