Does Christmas Come Too Early?

PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) — Starting Sept. 1, Costco was already stocking Christmas merchandise in their stores, and many other stores have followed suit since.

Does Chistmas come too early when it comes to shopping?

KDKA AM’s Larry and John talk to Katz Business Professor Jeff Inman about when and why stores decide to push Christmas up sooner and sooner on the calendar.

Please, let’s have people who can spell actually writing the headlines. To, Too, Two – basic 4th grade English class!!!

  2. Burghless says:

OMG- who cares about the grammar mistakes! The question is: Does Christmas come too early? Well, in the past several years, Christmas displays have been set up earlier and earlier. I think the economy is a huge reason. If people start shopping early, then they will have the opportunity to afford more over time if the finacially pace themselves. I do believe that is what the retailers want.

    1. Dan says:

Who cares about grammar mistakes, from a professional writer? A lot of people do. How can you trust anything a professional writer says if the writer and the editor can’t catch basic errors?

      1. Dave says:

This is a blog on a news site – big deal. Trust has absolutely nothing to do with grammar – it’s the content of the article that creates trust. To, too, and two is a common mistake just like effect and affect. Some of the highest ranked people in positions have problems spelling – does that mean they can’t perform their jobs? Get a life!

  3. Burghless says:

Oh, geez, in typing so fast, I forgot to write the “n” in “financially” and also the “y” in “they.” I hope Ms. Grammar doesn’t scold me TOO much!

  4. The Truth says:

Dave, looks like _you_ need to get a life. You’re taking this too seriously…and it is poorly written. Whether it bothers you or not won’t affect the facts.

  5. Jonas says:

I think you all need a life – this is a 3-paragraph snippet about Christmas displays that they want you to listen to. It’s not an article – it’s a lead-in for an audio piece.

    1. Dan says:

And therefore grammar rules don’t apply…oh wait, but they did fix it. Guess it was important after all. Looks like I was wrong.

  6. Simple Man says:

I wonder how you all reacted to the earthquake a few weeks ago. If you spaz out about something as trivial as this small piece on KDKA, I can just imagine how you would react to a major disaster. I think you all, with an emphasis on Dan, needs to sit back and take a breath.
