Police On Alert After String Of Violence Hits Sharpsburg

SHARPSBURG (KDKA) - Authorities are on alert after three consecutive nights of violence in Sharpsburg.

According to police, the most recent incident happened around 12:30 a.m. at the Circle K on North Main Street.

A man in the store pulled a knife on another customer during a discussion.

William Myers, 50, of Sharpsburg, is facing multiple charges including endangering the welfare of another person.

He was arrested at his home after the store clerk called police.

"They were talking in there and it seemed like everything was going on good and all of a sudden before you know it, he pulls out a knife," Mike Rocco, a clerk at the store, said.

Myers was not the only person apparently unhappy in Sharpsburg overnight.

Around 10 p.m. on Monday, an unidentified woman walked into the Guyasuta Lounge and fired a single shot.

"She was outside the Guyasuta Lounge. She fired a round. She was arrested and the gun was confiscated," Officer Brian Hoebel said.

No one was hurt in the incident.

However, one person was cut in the face after a man started swinging a meat cleaver in another Sharpsburg bar over the weekend.

James "Jimmy Joe" Rulli, 55, was arrested and is facing attempted homicide, assault, terroristic threats and public drunkenness charges stemming from the incident.

Sharpsburg Police Chief Leo Rudzki, Jr. said Rulli was drunk, mouthing off and started a pushing and shoving match.

"That's when things just got out of hand," Chief Rudzki said. "He pulled out the meat cleaver and just started wildly swinging at people."

The victim's injuries were said to be minor.
