EMSWORTH (KDKA) — A barge sank in the Ohio River Wednesday evening.

The gravel barge began to take on water about one mile down the river from the Emsworth Lock & Dam at about 6 p.m.

The barge, owned by Campbell Transportation, is now blocking the channel.

It’s the company’s responsibility to raise it, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Eight people were onboard, but no one was hurt.

The Coast Guard is investigating.
