93-7 The Fan Named New Pirates Flagship Station

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates will have a new place to tune in to listen to games on the radio.

It was announced on Wednesday that Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan will become the new flagship station for Pirates baseball.

The station will produce and broadcast all regular season and postseason games each season. They will also broadcast a minimum of 16 spring training games.

"We are extremely excited to announce our new strategic partnership with CBS RADIO's KDKA-FM and to be back home with the CBS RADIO family, which had been synonymous with Pirates baseball for more than 80 years," Pirates President Frank Coonelly said. "The partnership allows us to move our flagship station to 93-7 The Fan, an all-sports station with non-stop local programming. It also allows us to maintain the same high-quality broadcasts and reach that our fans have been accustomed to."

Pirates fans should not be alarmed about the move, because the familiar radio broadcasters will not be changing.

Greg Brown, Tim Neverett, Steve Blass, Bob Walk and John Wehner will continue to call the games.

"CBS RADIO Pittsburgh is very pleased and proud to present Pirates games on Sportsradio 93-7 The Fan, as well as utilize our three other local stations to bring the experience of Pirates baseball to area fans," CBS RADIO Pittsburgh Senior Vice President and Market Manager Michael Young said.
