Are Your Kids Bullied? Try Self-Defense

PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) — In most instances, a bully is someone stronger picking on a weaker opponent. Many experts say that to end bullying, you need to talk it out, ignore it, or tell someone, but is there another way?

KDKA AM’s Larry Richert and John Shumway talk to Lisa Achille, instructor and co-owner of Steel City Martial Arts, and she says that the best defense against a bully is having self-confidence and a means to fight back- if necessary- through martial arts.

Listen as she gives an approach to bullying that she has seen work time and again with her students:

It’s always fun to say high to bullies from the past as they bag groceries in the grocery store.

Look at him I think to myself. He used to be Captain of the Wrestling team and now he’s fat and overweight.

You call these people experts? These are idiots. Their solution is shown over and over again to be ineffective.

Excellent interview on how to deal with bullying in a healthy way! It is important for people to be able to stand up for themselves, and to learn how to do it in an appropriate way.

My 12 year old nephew was attacked at school, 2 thugs set upon him resulting the bullying kid to be suspended for 2 days and my nephew had an x rays and a head scan because his injuries gave concern to a possible broken cheek bone. We never really want this incident to happen so my sister did everything she could to protect and monitor him from time to time. Last month, while reading an article on a blog, it mentioned that there was a service we could use to track kids to be sure they are always in safe places and in just a press of the panic button, friends and family members will be alerted when he encountered an emergency. At the bottom it said I could follow the site anationofmoms and be entered for a drawing of 6 months free of the service. Not bad!
