"Mr. High School Sports" - The (Inevitable?) Decision

As has been reported by multiple sources, Hopewell senior tailback Rushel Shell, the WPIAL's all-time rushing leader, and one of the top Division I football recruits to come out of western PA in recent history, will be making his college choice Friday morning.

A press conference is scheduled at Hopewell Senior High School for 8:00 A.M. Friday, and speculation is rampant that Shell will verbally commit to Pitt at that time. Shell claims the Panthers and Alabama are the final two teams he has been weighing, though Pitt, apparently, has been recruiting him much more aggressively than the Tide in the days and weeks leading up to Friday's announcement.

Be sure to revisit the "Mr. High School Sports" blog at 937thefan.com on Friday for complete coverage of this event.

Later that day, Shell and his Hopewell Vikings will travel to Center Township to take on defending WPIAL Class AAA champion Central Valley in a 6:00 P.M. game televised on ESPN-U. Shell was originally expected to make the announcement before game time.

For more on Shell, check out Mike White's story from Thursday's edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
