2 Charged In Elizabeth Twp. Home Invasion

ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police are still investigating after a man opened fire on two people trying to break into his home.

It all went down at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday on Broadlawn Drive in Elizabeth Township.

A neighbor says she heard three gun shots and saw a gold Nissan Maxima speeding away.

Police say two men fled the scene and drove to Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

The suspect who was shot, Thomas Rice, is in critical, but stable condition with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Both Rice and the second suspect, Thomas Antosz, will be charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and endangering the welfare of a child.

Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman says there was a 2-year-old in the backseat of their getaway car.

Neighbors say this isn't the first time the victim's home was broken into and needless to say, it makes them nervous.

"I just kind a hunkered down because it's scary you know – knowing that happens, you know, in your own backyard," Debby Bernard said.
Allegheny County Police are handling the investigation.

Police say the homeowner is okay and will not be charged.
