KDKA STEELERS HUDDLE "Heinz Red Zone Recipe": Hot Sausage Stadium Subs

Ingredients:
6 pieces of hot Italian sausage
1 cup water
Olive oil
1 large sweet onion, sliced
2 green peppers – cut into thick slices
2 cups Heinz® Ketchup
2 bay leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
6 sub rolls
Shredded Provolone cheese

Preparation:
1. Cut sausage into pieces just long enough to fit the sub roll. In a skillet, cook sausages with about 1 cup water for 25-30 minutes.

2. After cooking, drain the water left in the skillet (if any), and add the onions and the green peppers. Cook until lightly golden brown.

3. Mix remaining ingredients in small bowl. In a pot, pour the mixture over the sausage and vegetables, and cook over low heat for 12-15 minutes, to blend the flavors.

4. Serve on toasted sub rolls and top with shredded Provolone cheese.

Serves: 6
