4-1-Zoo: Pitt Basketball Salutes Season Ticket Holders

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — The Pitt men's basketball team sat down and had dinner with select season ticket holders Sunday night to show their appreciation.

After 168 consecutive sellouts — 161 at the Petersen Events Center — and a season ticket waiting list that grew by approximately 3,000 since last season to 9,000 people, Pitt put together a first-ever event to show how much the fan support means.

Season ticket holders were chosen at random and gathered at the University Club on campus to have dinner and mingle with the Pitt players and coaching staff. Pitt athletic director Steve Pederson was even on hand and started off the event by thanking the fans for providing Pitt with a unique following.

Pederson said very few programs throughout the country receive the type of support Pitt basketball gets with sellouts every night. Jamie Dixon echoed Pederson's thoughts and noted that he's looking forward to the strong fan support translating over to the Atlantic Coast Conference whenever the move occurs.

Dixon continued by introducing each player, who then presented the season ticket holders at their table with their tickets for the year.

I was fortunate enough to talk to sophomore J.J. Moore, who Dixon said should make a great impact in his season season, and senior Ashton Gibbs after the dinner.

Here's what each had to say...
