NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) – The funeral for Lower Burrell Police Officer Derek Kotecki will be held Monday morning.

Officer Kotecki was shot and killed Wednesday night outside of the Dairy Queen on Greensburg Road. He was an 18-year veteran of the force.

There will be road closures in the area as the procession moves through Lower Burrell and New Kensington Monday morning.

According to police, the following road closures will be in effect:

• Leechburg Road in Lower Burrell and Freeport Road in New Kensington will be closed from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. They will also be closed from noon until 1 p.m.
• Seventh Street in New Kensington will be closed between Route 366 and Constitution Boulevard from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
• Freeport Road from Seventh Avenue to Locust Street will also be closed from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
• Municipal parking lots on Barnes Street in New Kensington will be closed until about 1 p.m.

The procession will depart from the Rusiewicz Funeral Home in Lower Burrell around 9:30 a.m. The funeral will be held at the Mount Saint Peter Catholic Church in New Kensington at 11 a.m.
