Escaped Drug Suspect Found In Georgia

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — A drug suspect who escaped from custody has been caught.

Police say 29-year-old Christopher Ghrist ran out the front door of the police barracks in Hempfield Township Friday night.

He allegedly convinced police to remove his handcuffs so he could use the restroom.

State police say authorities found him at about 12:30 p.m. Monday in Tybee Island, Ga.

He had a loaded handgun and two loaded magazines.
