Police Investigate Carjacking In Sheraden

SHERADEN (KDKA) – Police are investigating an early Tuesday morning carjacking in Sheraden.

According to police, the incident happened near the intersection of Sacramento Avenue and Minton Street around 12:45 a.m.

The victim was attempting to get back into his SUV when another man approached with a gun and stole the vehicle.

The vehicle was found about two hours later on the North Side. It had been set on fire, but police were able to extinguish the flames before the vehicle was completely burned.

The vehicle’s owner was not injured and Zone 6 officers are handling the investigation.

    What a bogus story. Sounds like insurance fraud to me.

    Carjackers would not take an old SUV. Carjackers take fancy cars. Nor would a person fire a car on fire just 2 hours after stealing it.

    If the thieves needed to get home, they would have hitchhiked or stolen an empty car. Also the owner described the robbers as wearing black hooded sweatshirts. The clothes that were found burning were not black.

    This was definitely not a carjacking.
