PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Filming for the movie “One Shot” featuring Tom Cruise may be wrapping up at the Stanwix garage today, but the cast and crew will be calling Pittsburgh home into the new year.

Cruise was spotted earlier this month preparing for a scene on the North Shore.

The latest shoot has been inside the Stanwix parking garage downtown where some of the sniper scenes have reportedly been taking place.

“Totally taking over the street, but just doing a lot of cool stuff here,” said Kevin Casey, who works downtown. “You hear gun shots going off and a bunch of special effects stuff, but they’ve been packing the street and everything.”

Casey manages the Max & Erma’s restaurant right across from the garage. He says the loss of hundreds of parking spaces while filming takes place did create some issues, but the buzz about the movie will hopefully generate even more business.

“It’s not that great for business, but it’s cool to see that it’s happening here,” said Casey. “So, it will bring in business later, so we’re not too worried. It’s just nice to see stuff going on in the city.”

Paramount has been very tight-lipped about shoot locations, only giving limited information to the Pittsburgh Film Office about street and bridge closures. Like how one southbound lane of the Fort Duquesne Bridge would close Wednesday for several hours.

What we do know is that they’re signed on to be in the Pittsburgh area for the next few months, enough to get people to look for the stars, and get excited about the movie.

“I can’t wait to go see it, ‘cause I’m going to see what I look at every day on a big screen,” said one area resident. “It’s really cool to see it.”

Plans are right now for filming to continue until mid-December when cast and crew will break for the holidays, only returning for a short while to wrap the shoot.
