PENN TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police in Penn Township are putting residents on alert after a rash of burglaries and car thefts.

According to Penn Township Police Chief John Otto, the Level Green neighborhood has been targeted, but other areas have been affected as well.

Police say the burglaries have been happening during the daytime when no one is home. The houses also tend to be in secluded areas.

Thieves have also targeted unlocked vehicles parked on the street overnight.

Police are warning people to park in their driveways when possible and to lock their doors. They also say if you see something suspicious, call 911.
