ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was killed in an early Saturday morning accident in Westmoreland County.

According to State Police, the accident happened on Interstate 70 in Rostraver Township around 3:18 a.m.

A tractor-trailer was reentering the westbound lanes after pulling over for an emergency vehicle, when a Dodge Nitro ran into the back of the trailer.

According to the police report, the driver of the Nitro did not see the trailer and the impact caused the vehicle to become lodged under it.

Joseph Salvino, 35, from Monessen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Diane Cholock, also from Monessen, was flown to Allegheny General Hospital with severe injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt in the crash.
