Off-Campus Incidents Put Slippery Rock Students On Alert

SLIPPERY ROCK (KDKA) — Students at Slippery Rock University say they’re concerned after an incident over the weekend.

Officials emailed students about an attempted assault that took place.

This — after the student body learned two other students were being charged with rape.

The alleged sexual assault happened in a house just off campus on September 29.

A young woman said two men attacked her. She named 22-year-old Braydon Micaletti and 21-year-old Bryan Chieze. Both are from New Castle and are students at Slippery Rock.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim said she was overpowered by Micaletti and Chieze. A witness reportedly screamed at Micaletti and Chieze, “What did you just do to her?”

When the victim went to hospital for treatment, a police officer said she displayed signs of exhaustion, fear, shaking along with injuries to her lip and neck.

Coupled with an alleged physical assault that took place at an off-campus apartment on Saturday, students say they’re a little scared and on guard.

“It’s definitely concerning,” Emily Cottage, a student, said. “I live where it happened so to hear that and to realize that could happen right where I live is a little bit intimidating.”

Students say they are thankful the university sent out a text and email alert about the latest incident.

These guys are sick. They ruined that poor girls life. They need to pay for what they did.

Obviously these two couldn’t get any girls and had to force themselves on a poor unwilling girl. I agree they are sick and I feel so bad for the victim and her family. Thoughts and prays are with them. As for the suspects, they get what they deserve. On a college campus they probably drank to much and could’t take no for an answer.

  • OH Boy!

I’m a friend of both these guys and couldn’t believe they did this when I was it on the news last night. Just goes to show that you never really know how people are. The suspects probably don’t really care about all this knowing them, but I’m sure their families are very distrute.

  • Mr. F

I’m discussed by this situation. Rape is something serious and they should root in jail for it. Though they probably won’t last long knowing what they do to rapist in the can.
The judge will throw the book at them.

  • bow

Another Duke Lacross situation. College students drunk tend to not take no for an answer. I feel bad for the girl.

  • Aron

Never good news comes out of the city of New Castle. Have fun in jail fellas

    • David P

That was the greatest and most truthful comment I have ever seen. New Castle is a dump! Thank you!

  • NC

    Rape= death penalty

  • Losers

Bad people still have families. I feel bad for everyone involved.
They are losers and trash and there day will come. They’ll prob get raped in the slammer just like they raped that girl

  • Lynne

  • Todd

From their pictures they look like criminals.
I agree “Their day will come”

  • Brian

Figures! Knowing these two. Knew there was going to be a time they would get caught. haha good for them

  • Sallye Fiscus

I thought you were innocent until proven guilty. These boys come from good families. Let the court system do their job before you judge them.

    • Joey

Guilty until proven innocent. Families dont control the actions of what these guiys did. Families may be good but these guys are sick individuals. People dont get accused of this stuff and arrested unless there is a lot of proof.

    • Todd

Sticking up for people charged for rape. What is this world coming to.

  • Merlot

Luther – Nice with the derogatory comments! It’s people like YOU who are ruining the world.

Aron, David P – would it be right to say that nothing good comes from where you all live?

    • David P

I have lived in New Castle for 20 years before moving to Pittsburgh and trust me there are more incidents that happen there than when I lived in Detroit and Pittsburgh combined. Sad for a small dying town!

  • Merlot

I think this is a despicable act and if they’re guilty, are punished to the full extent of the law

    • Bobby

If their guilty haha Their deff guilty and will be sentenced to the max. Get these violent criminals off the streets.

I hope they serve years behind bars for their sick actions.

Hope her and her family can go on with their lives after this.

    • Aron

      I argree with you

  • Staci O.

You people are unreal. First of all, some of you are showing your ignorance with the fact that you can’t even spell. Second of all, you are showing your immaturity by stating your ignorant comments. By the way, alot of the time you ARE a product of your environment; therefore, his family background does hold weight here. If you knew anything about the law, you would know that character witnesses are used all the time. I am sure both of these boys will have NO problem getting positive character witnesses to testify on their behalf. Furthermore, instead of using all your negative energy to implicate these guys, why don’t you use that energy to learn how to spell or better yet, learn the law. Perhaps then you will realize that “the cover story” isn’t what it always seems to be………….

    • art

people dont get arrested for what it always seems to be. character witness? They raped a girl not killed someone so anyone could rape someone even if they have a good character. And plus its always the people you say “No they would never do this” That do infact do it. Family life? So all people that come from good familes dont do these things? Hmm thats right people that rape people usually are poor and degenerates. NOT. What about the girl? You should care about her and not some guys who made a stupid mistake and cant admit their stupidity.

      • Tyler

If alcohol was involved. Their guilty 100%

    • KK

HAHA I’m sure Charles Mansons family was awesome to, so he didnt do it either just because of his family life. You make me sick. Who the hell cares about how their family life is, what they did is uncalled for and they obviously did something wrong if your charged with 9felonies. But i’m sure the judge is going to look at how good their families are and say your innosent.. hahaha no. They deserve whatever they get. LEARN THE LAW.. How about you learn that rape is wrong and they should learn to take no for an answer instead of raping.

      • sara

Do you have a great loving family? If your son or sibling or cousin or someone you trust and care about was accused of something so sick and disturbing, would you defend him knowing in your heart its untrue? Because you know this person and you know he is not capable of such behavior? Yes its easy to judge this situation but there is more to this story. LEARN TO SPELL.

      • Suzanne

You sound very angry….you should learn the law. They are innocent until proven guilty. Watch what you say and how you judge, someone is listening and it just may come back to bite you in the ass someday. A parent/family’s love is suppose to be unconditional. I know they all love their children and will do whatever it takes to protect them. That is what parents do!!!!! I agree Sara, Katie, Lem. Keep them all in your prayers.
If I was innocent of a crime, I sure wouldn’t want an angry, narrow minded person on my jury. Comparing them with the Manson family…..are you kidding me? Go to Church, release your anger, whatever you have to do………quit judging others, that is God’s job!

  • 4North1Side2

I like how all of you dummies are condeming these young men before knowing the facts. American’s don’t even believe in innocent until proven guilty anymore.

  • David G.

That Braydon kid is an a**hole and a lot of people who back me up on that one. I don’t feel bad for him one bit. I’m actually not surprised that he did this. I like bryan, he actually is a decent guy, but you never know what people can do when their drunk. It’s a sad situation for their families and victim.

  • tea

I heard more victims came forward. That braydon kid is a d$ck. I’m not shocked at all.

  • Katie

I went to high school with both of these men, graduated with one of them, and am a current student at Slippery Rock University. It’s hard to believe that something like this happened and that two men that I know are involved. Honestly, I don’t want to believe that it’s true, but I don’t know. It is for the court to decide. We can say negative/supportive comments about these men, but the only people that can know for sure what happened are the ones that were there. I hope that each side presents the best case possible and that justice is served.

There is no excuse for a sexual assult. “Well, we were all drunk….” That doesn’t matter. No means no all the time. Time will tell what will come from this, but it is a terrible situation that should not be taken lightly.

Also, I am pretty cautious about my grammar. Don’t judge anyone’s grammar if you yourself aren’t great at it.

  • LEM13

Need to let the judicial system make judgement as it will be the only place where both sides are heard. Being charged with a crime does not mean you are guilty, Big Ben was charged with the same crime but, he was proven innocent when all the FACTS were uncovered. Don’t condemn these two and allow the court system to handle.

David P – -What does the city of New Castle have to do with anything? There’s criminal activity in every city, township, borough across the country. If you lived in NC for 20 years, I can assure you that you met a lot more people who did not engage in criminal activity than those who did. If you say that I’m wrong, maybe you surrounded yourself with the wrong people

    • Sallye

      Well said LEM13.
