Ward, Hampton To Practice This Week

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Steelers will welcome the New England Patriots to Heinz Field on Sunday in what could be a game with playoff implications.

The Patriots are coming off a bye week and hold a  5-1 record. The Steelers (5-2) went on the road to Arizona and earned a 32-20 win over the Cardinals in Week 7.

While it is too early in the season to start thinking about playoff seeding, a win over New England would give them the tiebreaker should it come down to that. It would also give the Steelers the best record in the AFC.

During his weekly press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin updated the status of several players who are dealing with injuries.

Hines ward left the game against Arizona with a sprained ankle. His participation in practice will go a long way toward whether or not he plays against New England.

The same holds true for Casey Hampton. He should practice this week, but his status for Sunday is unknown at this point.

James Harrison, Jason Worilds and Doug Legursky all remain questionable.

The game will kickoff at 4:15 p.m. and can be seen on KDKA-TV.
