Water Main Breaks Impact Morning Commute

MONROEVILLE (KDKA) – Two separate water main breaks are impacting the Wednesday morning commute.

One of the breaks is on Route 48 in Monroeville near Route 22. Traffic is down to one lane in both directions in the area.

Crews are working to repair the break, but it could take until at least noon to reopen all lanes of traffic.

The other break happened on Brereton Street in Polish Hill around 1:30 a.m.

A fire hydrant had to be opened in order to relieve pressure and there were initial reports of water in the basements of homes.
