PSU Board Of Trustees Appoints Committee To Investigate Scandal

STATE COLLEGE (KDKA) -- The Penn State Board of Trustees met again today as they began the process of forming a special committee to investigate the child sex abuse allegations scandal that has shaken the university.

KDKA's Harold Hayes reports that Gov. Tom Corbett was in attendance at this morning's meeting, in which there was no direct discussion of the scandal.

The board did appoint a leader for the group, attorney Ken Frazier.

"The first thing we do is we have to have an organizational meeting to decide who will be on the committee, and more importantly, who we'll retain as our independent counsel to do the actual investigation," said Frazier.

In addition to investigating the scandal, the committee will also put mechanisms in place to prevent future incidents.

Meanwhile, Penn State's Interim President Rodney Erickson is set to hold a news conference this afternoon.
