PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) — ROOT Sports coordinating producer Craig McConnell joined 93-7 The Fan’s John Phillips Saturday morning, as he always does during the WPIAL football season, to discuss a number of topics.

Craig and John are both scratching their heads over why Rushel Shell’s career ended with two failed pass attempts on third and fourth down, neither of which was intended for the new PIAA rushing champion, as Franklin Regional edged Hopewell in a WPIAL Quarterfinal game seen on ROOT Sports.

Craig weighs in on the rest of the remaining Class AAA bracket, and which teams he think can challenge for both district and state titles.

In addition, Craig gives some perspective on a couple teams in the east whom the eventual WPIAL champions might see in Hershey.

ROOT Sports’ high school football coverage continues next Friday night at 7:30 (pre-game coverage begins at 7:00) with a WPIAL Semifinal game to be announced.
