Atmosphere Electric During Sidney Crosby's Return

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- To say that Pens fans were excited for the return of Sidney Crosby would be an understatement.

Fans have gone 320 days – 10 and a half months – without Crosby in the lineup.

The wait ended Monday night. Less than six minutes into the game, Crosby scored.

"It was awesome," Dave Kosick, of Cranberry, said. "It was awesome to see The Kid come back and do good on his first night."

"He was actually coming back just like he left off," Ed Yasechko, of Youngstown, Ohio, said. "Never missed a beat."

With that first goal, it felt like the crowd jumping to its feet could have registered on the Richter scale.

"It was mayhem," Jennifer Long, of Zelienople, said. "It was 'Ahhh!!'"

"It was unlike anything I ever felt before," Scott Seiber, of Irwin, said. "Just lost control. It was crazy."

"You could see the emotion and love that Pittsburgh has for Sidney Crosby," Kosick added.

Some fans compared Sid's comeback to Mario Lemieux's return from cancer treatment in 2000.
