Velton Jones Shoots Colonials To Win

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Robert Morris guard Velton Jones scored a career-high 38 points to lead the Colonials (3-1) to an 82-77 win at James Madison (1-2) Tuesday night.

Fifteen of his 38 points came from the free throw line, where he hit 15 of 19. He added a 3-for-4 effort from 3-point land and hit 10 of the 15 field goals he attempted.

Jones was the only RMU player in double figures on the night. Guards Coron Williams and Anthony Myers added eight points each as other high scorers for the Colonials Tuesday night.

Guards A.J. Davis (22 points) and Humpty Hitchens (21 points) led James Madison in scoring.

Robert Morris shot 49 percent from the field to 41 percent for the Dukes. Additionally, RMU outscored JMU in 26-8 in the paint.

The Colonials are back in action Friday at home against La Salle.
