MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (KDKA) – The Pitt Panthers came close but lost to the West Virginia Mountaineers, 21-20 in the Backyard Brawl Friday night.

Tino Sunseri completed 12 passes for 137 yards and threw one pick.

Zack Brown and Isaac Bennett each rushed for touchdowns in the first quarter. The Panthers had 195 yards in total offense while the Mountaineers had 274.

Both teams had trouble converting on third down. Pitt did not score any TDs after the first quarter.

From there, the Panthers kicked two field goals and West Virginia scored two touchdowns.
