Gearing Up For Cyber Monday

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- If the madness of Black Friday isn't your speed, retailers will still have great deals online.

It's called Cyber Monday – the online equivalent of Black Friday – and this year, more retailers are getting involved.

According to Shop.org, a website operated by the National Retail Federation, about 78 percent of online retailers will offer deals on Cyber Monday.

CyberMonday.com lists the many stores cutting prices on that day and through out the Thanksgiving weekend.

But it's not just the national big-box retailers getting in on the action.

For the fashion-forward shopper, a website based in Pittsburgh, is offering specials as well.

Owned and operated by Pittsburgh native Alexis Alexander, ShopTripolar.com, offers a range of apparel and accessories.

And on Monday, they're cutting prices up to 75 percent off.

"As an added bonus for Pittsburgh residents, we ship from right here in the city, so orders arrive almost instantly," Alexander said.

Meantime, as you're hunting for those online deals – shop smart.

OnGuardOnline.gov, a website managed by the Federal Trade Commission, offers pointers on how to shop safely this holiday season.

Get the details on what you're buying, pay by credit card and keep records.

Also, the Better Business Bureau is also a good resource.
