Alleged Route 22 Flasher To Stand Trial

EXPORT (KDKA) -- A man accused of flashing a school bus carrying high school girls in Westmoreland County will stand trial.

Steven Martz, 28, of Berlin, Somerset County, was driving home from work on Route 22 in Murrysville when the incident happened in September.

The girls were headed back from a tournament in Shaler. They were laughing and having a good time when one of the girls looked out of the window and saw Martz driving beside them.

"He had out his private parts in his lap and when she saw that she screamed and started saying, 'Look! Look! Look!' and all the girls went over to the window to see what was going on," Kono Morosky, an assistant volleyball coach and retired state trooper, told KDKA-TV.

Morosky asked the bus drive to slow down so he could get the license plate number off Martz's car.

Police were able to identify Martz and file indecent exposure and related charges. He has agreed to undergo a mental evaluation.

"Everyone's concern is that whatever occurred here it doesn't happen again and the purpose of the evaluation is to find out what needs to be done to see that that happens," Bob Johnston, Martz's defense attorney, said.

Martz remains free on bond while he awaits trial.
