Kennywood Opens For Holiday Lights

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) -- Kennywood is decked out in a million lights and open for you and your family this holiday season.

It's the first time in the park's 114-year history that it will be open in December.

Some rides are up and running and there are holiday events for all ages.

"The high points – we have a light show that goes off every 30 minutes around the lagoon and throughout the park we have one million lights – it's unbelievable at night from every angle," Jeff Filicko, park spokesman, said.

Things kicked off Friday night and will continue weekends through December 18.

"You'll be able to ride the kangaroo, the carousel and the paratrooper and you'll be able to take a ride on the old Kennywood railroad which is the Gingerbread Express for holiday lights as well as enjoying nine rides in Kiddie Land," Filicko said.

Tickets are $13.
