Volunteers Come Together To Build 'Sierra's Room'

MOUNT LEBANON (KDKA) - The Fagan family's yard in Mount Lebanon is filled with builders.

Dave Fagan, a volunteer fire fighter, is joined by dozens of colleagues, fellow church members, and people he'd never met before.

They've come to build an addition - a room for Dave and Jennifer Fagan's little daughter, Sierra. Weighing just 37 pounds, she's a 9-year-old with special needs.

"She has medical needs," Fagan said. "Where she has nursing care 16 hours a day, as well as breathing treatments, regular breathing treatments. Normal kid with a little bit of extra care and needs. Extra love."

That love is being spread by a local group called Hosanna Industries. They are builders and volunteers who renovate homes for those in need.

They were contacted by Glenn Hanna, pastor of Allegheny Center Alliance Church, where the family has a membership.

"We've demolished the porch, excavated the area, poured the concrete slab," he said. "And you can see how far along we are. Now, this is the third day of building. and things are progressing very quickly."

They've also had donations from building supply companies, restaurants, and grocery stores. And it all started when Dave Fagan asked fellow church members if anyone knew a good contractor.

"Well, that's what he was asking for," Reverend Hanna said. "But I think God had other plans."

Sierra's room will be finished and dedicated Dec. 21, just in time for Christmas.
