PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Tonight, we asked and you answered in a very big way.

The 58th Annual Free Care Friends Telethon on KDKA-TV Thursday night.

The fund guarantees that no area child will be denied medical care due to a lack of funds.

It fulfills a promise Children’s Hospital made to the community more than 100 years ago.

Our broadcast originated from Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville, and it was a big success.

Tonight’s fundraising total topped $1,608,421, which topped last year’s total of more than $1.5 million.

KDKA would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all who pitched in.
