Online Retailers Offer "Free Shipping Day"

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- If you still need to shop for gifts for all the people on your list but don't want to battle the crowds, it's a great day to do some online shopping because today is "Free Shipping Day!"

According to FreeShippingDay.com, more than 2,500 merchants will be waiving shipping fees and guaranteeing delivery by Christmas Eve on today's online purchases.

Industry experts say today has the potential to be even bigger for online sales than Cyber Monday -- since 90-percent of consumers spend more when they're offered free delivery.

Retailers raked in $942 million on "free shipping day" last year.
