4-1-Zoo: Pitt 15th In Latest Poll

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — Pitt sits at No. 15 in the latest AP poll after winning its lone game of the week against South Carolina State Sunday, 69-55.

It was  a rough week for the Pitt athletic department, and one of the incidents involved the mens basketball team. Heralded true freshman Khem Birch decided to leave the program after just 10 games, saying it wasn't the right fit for him.

Despite losing Birch — a starter in the front court — Pitt was able to take care of business Sunday night.

Pitt's depth will be tested twice this week with games against St. Francis and Wagner. Along with Birch being gone, guard Tray Woodall remains out with a groin injury, though coach Jamie Dixon says Woodall is progressing and it looks like he could return some time soon.

Big East play begins Dec. 27 at Notre Dame.
