4-1-Zoo: Graham Signs 5-Year, $10-Million Contract At ASU

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- The terms of Todd Graham's contract at Arizona State were released Tuesday and the results continue to sting.

Graham will make $2 million a year, which is right around if not exactly the same value of his contract at Pitt.

Graham will make a base salary of $600,000 along with $1.4 million in additional salary. That base salary will increase by $50,000 on Jan. 1 of each year until his contract expires in 2016 -- his base salary will reach $800,000 in his final year, that is, if he lasts that long at ASU.

He has added bonuses that could net him significantly more money. Here are just a few of importance:

  • $25,000 to appear in Pac-12 championship game.
  • $75,000 to win Pac-12 championship game.
  • $250,000 to appear in BCS bowl game.
  • $350,000 to win BCS bowl game.
  • $500,000 to appear in BCS national championship game.
  • $750,000 to win BCS national championship game.

Additionally, Arizona State will pay off Graham's obligational dues to the University of Pittsburgh from terminating his contract.

Graham will also receive two free cars, free ASU sporting event tickets, free golfing, country club membership, etc.

If Graham leaves ASU before his contract expires he's subject to owe the university up to $1 million and will be prevented from coaching any other Pac-12 university's football team.

So there are the parameters. If you hate Graham for what he did at Pitt, then you can use those numbers above as guidelines on which to root.

Once Graham appears in a Pac-12 championship the money starts flowing his way.
