Man Charged In Moon Twp. Hit-And-Run

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Charges have been filed in a hit-and-run accident after police say the driver lied to them about what he was doing before the crash.

Moon Township Police say 76-year-old Clifford Dilley came forward a day after a 17-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle on Moon Clinton Road back in October.

The crash victim survived and is now undergoing physical rehabilitation.

While investigating, detectives found inconsistencies in his story.

After police confronted him, Dilley gave another statement saying that he spent several hours eating and drinking at the Appian Way bar – near the accident scene – on the day of the crash, but said he thought he hit a deer.

Dilley turned himself in Tuesday at district court in Coraopolis. He is facing one felony count of accidents involving death or personal injury and a summary offense of reckless driving.
