Engelland Suspended For 3 Games

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland has been suspended for three games.

The NHL announced the punishment this afternoon following his phone hearing with the league's disciplinary committee for a hit he delivered to Chicago's Marcus Kruger during Tuesday night's game at the CONSOL Energy Center.

As Kruger made his way into the Pittsburgh zone, Engelland made initial contact with Kruger's head.

Kruger is being evaluated and may have suffered a concussion from the hit.

The Penguins are currently missing Zbynek Michalek, Paul Martin and Kris Letang from their defense corps.
