AVALON (KDKA) — Police continue to search for a suspect today following an armed robbery at a gas station early this morning in Avalon.

Police in Avalon say the suspect, who was armed with a knife, walked into the BP station on Ohio River Boulevard shortly after daybreak.

According to police, the suspect was seen milling about in the parking lot in the 900-block of Ohio River Boulevard before the incident.

Then, according to what the clerk told Avalon police, the suspect waited until the store was cleared, walked in and up to the counter.

Authorities say the suspect told the clerk he wanted cash immediately. The clerk complied, and then the robber turned and ran.

The suspect is described as an African American male with a light complexion. He was wearing a plaid coat and an Adidas face mask.

Police say the crook only got away with a small amount of cash. Investigators are now analyzing in-store surveillance video for more clues.

Avalon police say they believe the suspect fled on foot. If you know anything about this crime or the suspect they are asking you to please call them.
