Family Reopens Slain Officer's Veterinary Clinic

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- Relatives of slain East Washington Police Officer John David Dryer are reportedly reopening his veterinary clinic today.

Officer Dryer was also a veterinarian at Chestnut Veterinary Clinic in Washington.

Family members reopened the office and plan to rename it the John David Dryer Memorial Vet Clinic.

"He liked animals more than he liked people," Dean Dryer, the victim's brother, said.

Dryer's family says they decided to reopen the clinic because of the outpouring of support and testimonials from the community.

"It meant a lot," Dryer said. "Words can never express how much that got us through that difficult time."
