Local Packers Fan A Green Bay Hall Of Fame Finalist

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- He's in the middle of Steelers Country, but somehow, Rick Steele of Greensburg is a Green Bay Packers fan.

In fact, he wants to be the ultimate Cheesehead, by being inducted into the Green Packers Fan Hall of Fame.

Steele has been named one of 10 finalists, and now he's asking for votes online to make him the top choice.

Voting begins Sunday, January 2nd at this website, and as he puts it, you're allowed to vote for him once a day.

Steele and his wife Kristi both grew up here, but she grew up a Packers fan. When they met, she converted him. She says it was a condition of signing the marriage certificate that he become a life-long Cheesehead.

Their son, who is named Brett, is also a Packers fan.

The Steele home is full of Packers memorabilia, including old turnstiles from Lambeau Field, signed helmets and jerseys, carpet with the Packers logo on it and even a Green Bay toilet paper dispenser.

If he wins, in addition to free tickets and other prizes, Steele's picture will go up inside the Hall of Fame at Lambeau Field. He says it would be a big honor for him.

His wife wrote the essay that entered him in the contest.
