BUFFALO TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — State police are investigating after one person was killed in an accident Saturday afternoon in Washington County.

The crash happened around 2:40 p.m. on McKee Road in Buffalo Township.

Police say they believe a car driven by 20-year-old John Songer, of Washington, Pa., was traveling at a high rate of speed when it went out of control.

According to state police, Songer’s vehicle struck a tree, spun around, and then hit another car. Songer’s car then hit a utility pole, and rolled approximately two times before coming to a rest.

Songer was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Two people in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.

Crews with West Penn Power had to replace a pole at the scene.
