Steelers Sign Anthony Madison

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) — With two defensive backs injured Sunday at Cleveland and possibly another one on the shelf for Sunday at Denver, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed a familiar face to the secondary: cornerback Anthony Madison.

Cornerbacks Keenan Lewis (hamstring) and Cortez Allen (shoulder) were both injured against the Browns Sunday in a 13-9 win. Safety Ryan Clark may not be able to play at Denver Sunday in the Wildcard round of the playoffs because of his sickle cell trait, which caused him to be severely ill in the 2007 season because of a reaction to the high altitude.

Madison will come in and provide depth in the defensive backfield. He has spent parts of seasons in Pittsburgh since 2006.

Ike Taylor, William Gay and Bryant McFadden are the only other healthy cornerbacks on the Steelers roster.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin will address all injuries today in his weekly press conference, which can be heard live on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN.
