6-Year-Old Boy Left On Baldwin School Bus

BALDWIN (KDKA) -- Six-year-old Lasearen Rucker, who is in kindergarten, says the only thing he could think to do was "follow the light" when he woke up in the Baldwin Whitehall School District bus garage.

He had apparently fallen asleep on the way to school Wednesday, but although the driver went to the back of the bus to throw a security latch which helps prove the driver walked through the bus, the boy was not noticed

"Somebody should pay better attention," said his mother, Maria Perez.

She says although someone eventually found him in the garage, this could have ended up tragically.

Superintendent Dr. Lawrence Korchnak says the district is investigating whether its procedures are flawed or whether the driver should face disciplinary action.
