Bold Burglars Prompt Community's First Crime Watch

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Burglars in one local town are getting bold.

At one home, they stayed for hours watching TV and snacking on peanut butter sandwiches.

Police in Jefferson Township, Washington County, are investigating dozens of burglaries and attempted break-ins in surrounding communities.

That's why more than 100 residents came to a meeting Thursday night to form the town's first-ever crime watch organization.

Most of the crimes happen during the day when homeowners are away.

They're stealing, guns, cash, jewelry and antiques.

State police are trying to track down the intruders.
