MILLVALE (KDKA) — A violent hit and run crash sent one man to the hospital early this morning; but police arrested a suspect a short time later.

The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 28 near Millvale when a pickup truck slammed into a car –sending the car into the barrier and trapping the victim in the wreckage.

According to authorities, the driver of the truck fled the scene, but police later apprehended the suspect in a wooded area off Washington Street in Etna.

Police arrested the unidentified suspect for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

The victim, who was conscious and alert as rescue crews got him out of his car, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.
