PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — If you live in the city or Mt. Oliver, in the next day or so you’ll be receiving a letter from County Executive Rich Fitzgerald telling you those new reassessment values on your home or business are no longer in effect.

“They are no longer in effect,” Fitzgerald said. “There’s only one set of numbers that are out there and they are the certified numbers.”

The letter is in direct defiance of Judge R. Stanton Wettick, the judge who ordered the reassessment, who says the new reassessed values are in place.

At a hearing Tuesday, Wettick will consider holding Fitzgerald in contempt of court.

He is also expected to rule on a request from the city and the school board to delay the use of the new assessed values, allowing those taxing bodies to use the old assessed values for one year.

Wettick says the decision of whether to delay or implement the new numbers is his not Fitzgerald’s. The city hope his ruling will end the confusion.
