Car & Train Collide In Cheswick
CHESWICK (KDKA) -- Emergency crews responded to an accident between a car and a train in Cheswick this morning.
The accident happened around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Pittsburgh Street and Cheswick Avenue.
When NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene, the car appeared to have damage to both the front and passenger side.
According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the driver failed to stop at the crossing and drove right into the path of the engine.
The train hit the passenger side of the vehicle -- totaling the car; but amazingly, the driver was not seriously injured.
The PG reports that the driver said he didn't see the train coming and there was no bar at the crossing to stop drivers.
