Time Running Out To Bid On Mayor Ravenstahl's Tebow Jersey

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The "Tim Tebow" jersey worn by Pittsburgh Mayor Ravenstahl when he lost a bet with the mayor of Denver continues to attract bids on eBay, but time is running out.

Bidding closes Wednesday afternoon.

Images of the mayor striking a prayerful pose while wearing No. 15 with Pittsburgh in the background, have gone viral.

But Ravenstahl admits, "When I made the bet with the mayor, I never anticipated having to pay it off. After I reported I would just take it back to the store, and that I didn't want it, a couple of friends called the office saying, 'Hey, you could auction it off for charity.'"

To make the best of a bad situation, he put the jersey on eBay where the bidding has been almost as surprising as the outcome of that game.

Bids Tuesday afternoon topped $1,300. Although the money goes toward Pittsburgh Promise scholarships, he says it's a good bet that the bidders hail from Colorado.

"Who knows where these bids are coming in from. My guess is they're probably coming in from Denver, which is OK. We'll take their money too. That goes for a good program, the children of the public schools, and gives them a chance to go to college."
