New Urban Terrain Park Featured At Seven Springs

SEVEN SPRINGS (KDKA) – The world's first – and only – urban terrain park is now open at Seven Springs.

This new snowboard park is called "The Streets," fittingly named because it is designed to reflect Pittsburgh's iconic skyline.

This idea was fueled by professional snowboarder Pat Moore, who has snowboarded in urban areas across the country.

"A lot of times we'll go to different cities that get snow, and we create our own snowboard park within the city. So what we wanted to do was take what we do in the cities with our filming and bring it to the resort and make it available for kids to come ride," says Moore.

The Streets features some of downtown Pittsburgh's most prominent buildings, including The Highmark Tower and PPG Place.

The park's slopes can be enjoyed by both professionals and amateurs.

"We have the big section, which is challenging for the professionals like myself and the other guys we have here, and we also have the smaller section, where you can be a first-time snowboarder and be able to come here and enjoy it," Moore explains.

A regular lift ticket gains you admission to The Streets. This is an attraction the resort hopes will draw new guests from across the country.

"It's going to bring a lot of kids down from the New England states and give them a reason to come to a resort like this and really turn us into a destination resort," says Joel Rerko, Seven Springs' Actions Sports Director.
