Concerned Residents Attend Ross Twp. Meeting

ROSS TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Despite the capture of a suspect and the slick snowy roads, dozens still turned for a community crime-watch meeting at the Ross Township municipal building.

The police department has a Special Programs Division and its goal Thursday night was to raise awareness and encourage residents to be more vigilant on the heels of a high-profile rape investigation.

Thursday's arrest brings comfort to residents but many say the case has changed their lives.

"Because I know even when I go to work in the morning he watches so that I get in the car safely," Arleen Miller said. "I think that will continue too."

"I'm a little freaked out about it," another resident said. "I'm more careful , changing my routine, doing things differently, yeah."

Police have received hundreds of calls of support and inquiries about joining the crime-watch organization.

"We have begun to for lack of a better word start the healing process in the community," Ross Twp. Police Sgt. Ben Dripps said. "I think the last couple days have lend itself to beginning to rehabilitation the community, Mr. Henderson is behind bars and I think there's probably a roomful of people here tonight that will celebrate that fact."
