Latest Storm Leaves Snow, Ice In Wake
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The latest round of winter weather to hit the Pittsburgh area is wrapping up, but it did leave behind quite a mess.
According to Meteorologist Kristie Kubovic , a general four to six inches of snow fell in the area with some places seeing less than a quarter of an inch of ice.
As a result, several accidents have been reported around the area.
In Westmoreland County, a tractor-trailer accident forced lane closures on Interstate 70 near Belle Vernon.
Several counties in the Pittsburgh area were under a Winter Storm Warning, including: Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland Counties.
Other counties in the area were under a Winter Weather Advisory. Those included Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Indiana and Lawrence.
Both the advisory and storm warning expired at 1 p.m.
While the bulk of the storm has cleared the area, snow flurries could still be seen this afternoon.
The afternoon will see mostly cloudy skies with a high near 30 degrees.
Sunday's forecast looks much better with mostly sun and clouds and a high near 40 degrees.
