CONSOL Energy Issues Health Alert After Miner's Death

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- CONSOL Energy has issued a health warning to 500 of its employees.

According to the Associated Press, the alert comes after a miner died from a rare form of meningitis.

The employee worked at the Bailey Mine in Greene County and went home on Monday with flu-like symptoms, the AP reports.

He died on Tuesday.

Health officials say this form of meningitis is spread through saliva.

The Associated Press reports that CONSOL Energy has contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Now, officials are trying to determine how and when the worker got sick.
